1960’s Silvertone Chris Isaak S 1446
SALE! FREE CONTINENTAL USA SHIPPING! Here’s one of the coolest guitars of the 60s! The Silvertone S 1446 was made by Harmony and sold in Sears catalogs back in the day. Chris Isaak famously used one in his early days and even named his 1st record “Silvertone”. Hubert Sumlin also used one when playing with Howling Wolf. A really cool guitar in terms of looks but it also has some sweet tone. Hollow body with F holes for warm sounds. The bound rosewood fingerboard features pearloid block inlays. The real party is the pickups. These guitars came with Gibson built mini humbuckers. These pickups are basically the same as what you would find on an Epiphone of the period. Good sounding with nice highs and mids. A Bigsby vibrato, floating bridge, and Waverly tuners round out the hardware. The finish is black lacquer and is set off by white plastic. A guitar with tone that matches its vibe!
Unlike many examples, this Silvertone actually plays well. The neck is comfortable, the frets still have some life in them and the pickups sound good. Everything works as it should. Condition wise, this one has seen some use but still looks nice. It shows average scratches, dents and dings. There's some wear from a chord in the case on the back. All honest playwear on a 40+ year old instrument. Comes in a gigbag.
