1999 Dearmond by Guild Starfire

Guild’s Dearmond line has been popular among retro minded players. Discontinued for awhile now, they have steadily held their value or increased in price in recent years. How can you argue with the vibe? Based on the famous Guild Starfire hollowbody, the Dearmond is a heckuva guitar for the bucks. The body is made of laminated maple for good tone. the maple neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Dual USA made Dearmond single coils deliver classic tones reminiscent of a P-90 with more sparkle. A Dearmond branded Bigsby, sealed tuners and an Adjustomatic bridge keep it rock solid. The finish classic transparent cherry red and is set off by chrome hardware and black plastic. A very cool guitar for the bucks!

I’ve had several Dearmonds come through and I even had a few Dearmonds in my personal stash. I really love the vibe, value and tone. This example is no exception. Good playability and feel. The pickups have good tone and all electronics work fine. Great bang for the buck. This is a very nice used example. It has seen very little playtime. It shows light pick and clearcoat scratches and some light playwear. Very nice. Comes in an aftermarket hardshell case.

Guild no longer offers the Dearmond line and prices have continued to increase on the used market. Many players have been converted to the great tone, looks and bang for the buck of these great guitars. If you’re considering a Gretsch, Epiphone or similar guitar from other builders, you owe it to yourself to check out the Dearmond Starfire. The quality is as good as if not better than the competition and the pickups are miles and away superior.
