1954 Gibson Les Paul Jr
ON SALE! SAVE $500! TRADE INS ENCOURAGED! Gibson's Les Paul Junior has been the choice of no nonsense rockers for decades. Johnny Thunders, Mick Ralphs, and Leslie West all used the Junior to good effect. Big, thick rock tone with tons of snarl. The mahogany body, wraparound bridge and single P-90 deliver big time sustain. Clean, functional design built in Gibson's golden age. The sunburst lacquer finish is classic. The Les Paul Jr is the choice for straight ahead rock.
This Jr is from the first year of production. This example, like many other 54s, came from the factory with a rather shallow neck angle. As a result, this one has medium action. You could modify another bridge to have a lower contact point and bring the action down a bit more. Many players would find it perfectly acceptable but someone used to an Ibanez shredder may find it higher than they prefer. Our shop corrected the common and dreaded bridge post lean that many of these guitars have. We also refretted it with small fret wire. It currently wears repro tuners and a newer jack plate. The original crumbly button tuners are included in the case as is the original cracked jack plate. Otherwise, all of the parts are original. Original pots (click highlighted words for more pics) and electronics. original pickups and plastic. The heel has one reglued chip. It wasn't structural and looks to have been just a cosmetic bump. The neck is stable and straight. No headstock repairs or breaks. The original finish shows wear you would expect. Dents, dings, scratches, checking and some wear on the back that looks to have been from a cable in the case. It will ship in a recent hardshell case for safety but the original chipboard case will be included.
This is a great opportunity to grab a 1st year Junior. This example definitely has the vibe. I'm always interested in guitar trades as well. Here's your chance to get a cool golden age Gibson!
