1970 Gibson SG Special

Shades of Pete Townsend! Rock guitars don't get much more rocking than the SG Special! Snarling tone that few other guitars can match. The body is mahogany for killer sustain. The neck is mahogany and features a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Big barking tone thanks to a duo of original P-90 pickups. A wraparound bridge, Maestro trem, and Kluson strip tuners round out the hardware. The finish is a deep cherry red and has a nice patina. This one's all there folks. No routs under the guard. Kosher electronics with original pots. Perfect neck joint with absolutely no repairs whatsoever. It's becoming more and more difficult to find one of these without some kind of nasty repair. A killer guitar!

This SG plays great and sounds awesome. Killer tone from the original pickups. The neck is straight. Typical of the period narrow nut. It looks to have had a refret at one point. The frets are in great shape and have tons of life left in them. Everything works as it should. This is an extremely well preserved 41 year old guitar. Very clean for its age, it shows some light pick and clearcoat scratches and a few indents and dings. Nothing major at all. The chrome plating is in awesome shape. The finish has great shine and looks killer. A few tuner shafts have a slight bend in them. It doesn't impact tuning and it's a minor issue. An incredible nearly time capsule guitar! It also comes with some ultra clean paperwork as well. When we got it from the original owner, it came in an aftermarket EB-0 bass case. Luckily, we had a correct late 60s Gibson SG case here. The case has a busted latch and isn't nearly as clean as the guitar but it is correct. We can substitute a modern aftermarket if you prefer.

SG Specials have incredible tone. They are a classic design. Just ask Pete Townsend! Still relatively affordable on the vintage market, these guitars are a great value. Here's an example that's probably as clean as you'll ever see. A once in a lifetime opportunity to own a super clean guitar. BUY IT NOW and own a great guitar!
