Early 1963 Gibson Les Paul SG Standard

We just recently sold a 63 SG Standard and what comes rolling in the door? Another one! If you missed out on that one, here's your chance. As a bonus, this one is priced a bit cheaper allowing players a chance to get a cool guitar at a great price. Fans of Gibson's SG know these guitars for their killer necks and great tone. The solid mahogany body has the classic devil horn outline. The wide and medium shaped mahogany neck has a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid inlays. Dual patent sticker humbuckers deliver killer tone. These early patent stickers are identical to a PAF and only differ on the stickers. I presume that these are original to the guitar and have newer covers. A side pull trem and no wire ABR Tuneomatic bridge keep it rock solid. The arm is gone, presumably broken (a common ailment) and the bridge is showing a good bit of corrosion on the edges. The side pull trem is not known for its performance but many players can attest that it offers great sustain and killer tone. The tuners are a recent set of Kluson Deluxe style. Pots and electronics are all good. The original cherry finish looks awesome and compliments the nickel hardware well. The top has darkened a bit for a killer vintage look. A great guitar with killer vibe!

This SG plays and sounds great. The original frets have had a few dressings over the years and show some wear but play well. The neck is straight and the action is good. The pickups deliver great tone and sustain. Tons of variety and everything you could want from a Gibson of the era. Condition wise, this guitar has a great vibe and would be cool for a player. The heel area has been repaired. We considered cosmetically touching up the repair for aesthetics but decided to leave that up to the new owner. the repair is solid and has presented zero tuning or stability issues. Frankly, the neck joint is probably stronger than when it left the factory as this is a common ailment on SGs of the era. Otherwise, this SG shows off some great vintage vibe. Average scratches, finish checking, dents, dings and wear that you would expect from a guitar of this age. A killer look. Comes in original but fairly worn hardshell case with replaced handle.

This is a great opportunity to get into a real SG/Les Paul at a great price. At the height of the market a few years ago, these were pushing $30K. Now after some sanity they seem to have settled down around $14-16K from most of the big dealers. Here's one for a lot less. Trades are welcome as well. BUY IT NOW and own a great SG!
