Ibanez 2388 Lawsuit Bass
Here's a cool looking 70s Ibanez 2388 bass. Ibanez came to prominence in the 70s making instruments inspired by classic American designs. Unfortunately for Ibanez, many of these instruments got too close for comfort for the American manufacturers. Threats of lawsuits loomed so many of the Japanese manufacturers switched gears and began manufacturing new designs. Years later, many players have discovered these so called "lawsuit" guitars. Many feel that American musical instrument quality was at its nadir and that many of these Japanese instruments were superior in fit and finish. This is a killer looking bass. The body looks to be made of maple and features very cool checked binding. The maple neck features a bound rosewood fingerboard with crushed pearl inlays. Dual pickups deliver big tone. The finish is a gorgeous cherry sunburst and is set off by chrome hardware. The pickup cover and bridge mute have been removed but are included with the sale. An awesome bass!
This bass sounds cool. The tone is nice and the electronics work as they should. It is set up with medium action and some relief in the neck. The truss rod works but not as well as I would like. The frets are low and could use some dressing or even replacement if you are really picky. A punk rock player wouldn't care. Condition wise, it shows normal wear and tear. Scratches, dents, dings and playwear. Nice vintage vibe overall. Comes in presumably original hardshell case.
Cool vintage tone and vibe at an affordable price. This Ibanez would make a great addition to anyone's gear arsenal.
