1936 Kalamazoo KG-21 Archtop

Raw, gutsy tone! Kalamazoo instruments were made by Gibson and offer players Gibson quality at a low price. This KG-21 is a fine example of the breed. Roughly OO sized but with a bit more depth, it's a comfy player. The top is solid pressed spruce while the back and sides are solid mahogany. The mahogany neck features a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Cool for blues, it also has a nice tone for old timey music. A lot of bang for the buck here.

This Kalamazoo plays fine and sounds good. The action is medium. You could take a little material off the bridge to get the action lower but many folks would be fine with it as is. The frets show some denting but are in overall good shape. The guitar is in nice condition for its age showing average wear, scratches, dents and dings. There's some deeper pick scratches in the top but they add to the vibe. A nice example. Comes in a later beat up chip board case.
