Vintage 1960s Old Kraftsman Kay Vanguard Solidbody Electric

Authentic American tone and looks! Old Kraftsman guitars were built by Kay for sale in Spiegel catalogs. Like Sears' Silvertone and Montgomery Ward's Airline lines, they were a house brand that offered affordable guitars to shoppers. This space age guitar epitomizes retro cool. Similar to the Kay Vanguard. This slabby solid body screams vintage and has tone to match. Dual single coils (probably Dearmond made) deliver big vintage tone. The bridge has been upgraded to a modern Tuneomatic style but the original is included. A crazy veg-a-matic trem (arm is MIA) and 6 on a strip tuners keep it rock solid. The finish is classic sunburst. A lot of fun for the bucks!

This Kay plays and sounds cool. Primitive, gut bucket tones. The original brass frets show some wear but it plays fine for most folks. Cosmetically, the guitar shows normal wear for its age. Scratches, dents, dings, chips and wear add to the vibe. Not too bad though and not abused. The bridge currently isn't grounded so there's some extra hum. Comes in a modern gigbag.

This is a cool guitar for the bucks. Eastwood has recently has introduced its Bighorn model obviously inspired by this family of guitars. Cool guitars but at the end of the day, they will sound like a modern Epiphone with a wacky shape. Why not grab a vintage example for about the same money?
