1900s Washburn New Model 1897 Parlor Guitar
Here's a cool parlor guitar with killer tone! The New model was made from approximately 1896 till 1905. This example is a very cool and unique example. The top is solid spruce. The back and sides are Brazillian rosewood. It features an ebony fingerboard and bridge. Cool appointments include fancy bridge inlays and hip rope binding. A very attractive and cool sounding guitar.
Set up with silk and steel strings, this Washburn has tone that defies its size. Balanced with great articulation, it would be a killer fingerstyle instrument. The frets have been dressed and the action is good. It appears to have had a neck reset once in its life. We recently did some work to it, replacing the bridge plate, stabilizing some top cracks and regluing some braces. It sounds great and performs well. Otherwise, it is average condition for its age. It shows normal wear, scratches, dents and dings for a century old instrument. Comes in a newer chipboard case.
